As a banking tycoon, Tony Elumelu’s patience paid off – The Sun Nigeria

The are some born to do business; some born to live a luxurious life; and some to change society. However, there are those who have all three qualities. Such people are rare. One of these rare personalities is the Nigerian business tycoon, Tony O. Elumelu. This serial investor, over the past two decades, has displayed unparalleled success in business and a super wealthy lifestyle. As chairman of Heirs Holdings, Elumelu’s influence has grown at lightning speed in recent years.

In no time, his Twitter and Instagram platforms surpassed 1.2 million and 866,000 followers: why not when you live a life that becomes an inspiration to millions? Elumelu is a super rich guy who has owned it all with his skills and hard work. The first banker born in Delta State knows where to invest and when to invest and this quality has made him one of the wealthiest in Nigeria. However, about 10 years ago, Elumelu’s efforts to expand its investment frontiers with prime property in Lagos hit a few snags.

Spotlight has learned that Elumelu had dreamed of turning the nearly dilapidated Falomo shopping complex into high-end real estate, but some relationship issues surfaced, leading to a cocktail of trade-offs and compromises. During these difficult times, rather than fighting, the UBA Group Chairman stepped back to reflect, embrace dialogue and focus on peaceful resolution rather than conflict. Ultimately, a bigger and better mutual deal than was originally proposed ten years ago resulted in a high-end and iconic real estate known as Falomo Towers. Elumelu’s Afriland Properties has signed a joint redevelopment partnership with the Lagos State Development and Property Corporation (LSDPC) to deliver a contemporary mixed-use development Falomo Towers with its groundbreaking ceremony and construction launch held last weekend.

And of course, Elumelu is already looking forward to the next three years when the landmark, Falomo Towers – a phenomenal urban renewal project that will bring back the lost ambience of ritzy Ikoyi, especially restore Falomo’s aesthetic landscape and beautify the skyline of Ikoyi commercial suburb— will be put into operation.
