Leveraging 3rd Gen AMD EPYC processors with industry-leading AMD 3D V-Cache compute performance, ASUS achieved top-notch results on 14 out of 16 key SPEC CPU 2017 benchmark metrics. Specifically, an ASUS Server RS720A-E11 equipped with two AMD EPYC 7773X processors – the highest-end processors in this processor series – earned a global SPECrate2017_fp_base score of 745. Equipped with a single AMD EPYC 7773X processor, the stablemate server RS520A-E11 achieved a record 374 SPECrate2017_fp_base. ASUS also scored three best results on the SPECjbb 2015 benchmarks (Composite/MultiJVM) for Java server performance with RS700A-E11-RS12U with two 7773X processors. The results demonstrate that ASUS servers continue to dominate with the latest AMD EPYC processors, delivering exceptional performance for the server industry.
Free BIOS update enables compatibility with full line of ASUS servers
ASUS offers both dual-socket RS720A and RS700A and single-socket RS520A and RS500A servers to support the addition to the 3rd Gen AMD EPYC processor lineup, with TDP options from 240W to 280W and a core count from 16 to 64 cores – and all with the latest 768MB L3 cache.
ASUS’ GPU server offerings, such as the ESC8000A and ESC4000A series, which support four to eight dual-slot AMD Instinct accelerators, Xilinx FPGA accelerator cards, and NVIDIA GPUs will also support the new processor, bringing will allow it to be optimized for AI, deep learning and HPC workloads. All models are compatible, with a simple BIOS update enabling full functionality of the latest 3rd Gen AMD EPYC processors with AMD 3D V-Cache. This will help ensure improved and consistent performance, as well as compatibility with the latest AMD platforms.

AMD EPYC 7003 series processors with AMD 3D V-Cache technology triple the amount of available L3 cache to 768MB per socket, compared to the EPYC 7003 series without 3D stacking. This enables faster results on targeted workloads such as EDA, CFD, and FEA software and solutions while providing socket compatibility with existing AMD EPYC 7003 platforms.
By augmenting the L3 cache pool which has lower latency and closer to the core than main memory, the latest EPYC 7003 series processors with AMD 3D V-Cache utilize the same shared memory architecture as the rest of the family. 3rd generation EPYC. This means that customers can now take advantage of up to 96MB of L3 cache per CCD without sacrificing performance, even on low core count and mainstream processors.
