The UAE banking sector will mark the Eid Al Fitr holiday from the 29th of Ramadan to the 3rd of Shawwal.

Banks are expected to resume work on the 4th of Shawwal, UAE Barq reported on Monday.

Based on astronomical calculations, banks should remain closed from April 30 to May 4 – according to the Gregorian calendar. However, the dates could change, depending on the sighting of the moon.

Until Monday, the Department of Human Resources in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain had approved a 9-day Eid Al Fitr leave for public sector employees.

This means that the public sector will remain closed from Saturday April 30 to Sunday May 8. When combined with the Saturday-Sunday weekend, it becomes a nine-day break.
